Volunteer for Spring Commencement Week 2024 | Commencement

The University Commencement and Recognition Committee is seeking enthusiastic and reliable volunteers for the upcoming graduation activities on May 17 and 18, 2024. Planning is a yearlong endeavor, and executing such a prestigious event takes several days leading up to commencement weekend. Here is how you can help make an impact on the culminating celebration for over 3,000 members of the UNL community.

Set Up

2-hour minimum time commitment on either Thursday, May 16 or Friday, May 17

Placing signage around the interior and exterior of facilities
Numbering chairs on field according to a specific layout

Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony

5-hour commitment on Saturday, May 18

Greeting and directing students through check-in and onto the field
Handing out programs and water to students as they enter the stadium
Offering seating guidance
Being a friendly face and answering last-minute questions about the ceremony
Assisting professional photographers in Hawks
Floating between volunteer stations to offer breaks or provide extra assistance

Tear Down

3-hour time commitment on Saturday, May 18

Removing signage and dismantling backdrops in Hawks
Removing numbering stickers and signs from chairs on the field
Clearing any trash or belongings left on the field

Contingency

To be determined based on location and format of backup plan on Saturday, May 18
